Insurance Groups Continue Support for Lightning Protection
Lightning Protection Institute has renewed a third subscriber agreement with the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) to expand communications and networking efforts. The renewed agreement will build on the existing partnership between LPI and I.I.I. to further support the awareness for lightning protection within the insurance industry. The I.I.I. responds to more than 6,000 media requests for information and contributes to thousands of news stories each year. The not-for-profit group is a trusted resource for insurance professionals, organizations and consumers.
State Farm Insurance is featuring new on-line consumer information titled "The Nuts and Bolts of Lightning Protection" on its Learning Center website. The Learning Center provides important information to help consumers make informed decisions about insurance, home maintenance, safety, finances and more. Fire Prevention Week Underscores Lightning Hazard
Lightning Protection Institute once again seized national Fire Prevention Week as an opportunity to remind property owners of the dangers of lightning. A lightning fire that reduced Sir Richard Branson's home on Necker Island to rubble and a lightning-triggered fire that killed three and injured 11 in a Croatia nursing home were two recent events that highlighted the deadly impact of lightning on unprotected homes and structures. LPI distributed a media release in conjunction with the NFPA campaign, to remind property owners of the importance of lightning protection systems to prevent property loss and injury during lightning storms.
